All About Divisionals

Divisionals is our final meet - but unlike all of our other dual meets this summer, Divisionals is an individual competition. So instead of trying to win points for the team, our Vikings are swimming for individual glory! Or maybe for a cool medal 🙂

Team areas are behind the slide - we will be all the way to the right in this picture, along the back fence. 

Important Things to Know at a Glance:

• Swimmers should bring a camp chair or they will be sitting on the ground. Families are encouraged to bring chairs as well in case you can’t get a regular seat.
• There will be a coffee cart with lattes, etc (!!!!)
• There will be single-event viewing and general spectator areas.
• It’s right next to a public park so plenty of space for siblings to run around as needed.
• There will be a tshirt vendor on site so be prepared for your kids to hit you up for an expensive tshirt!

Timeline: Unlike a regular meet, swimmers will warm up directly before their event. So for example, if you aren’t swimming until free, you do not need to be there until the freestyle warmups.

The full timeline is listed on the website. Please take a look at it, especially if you are working the meet, so that you can find your briefing time.

• 8:30 Meet Start (Backstroke)
• 9:20 Breaststroke warm-ups (10 mins)
• 9:35 Breaststroke events begin (no earlier than this time)
• 10:25 Butterfly warm-ups (10 mins)
• 10:40 Butterfly events begin (no earlier than this time)
• 11:30 Presentation of Division Trophy and Sportsmanship Award
• 11:40 IM warm-ups
• 11:55 IM events begin (no earlier than this time)
• 1:00 Freestyle warm-ups
• 1:15 Freestyle events begin (no earlier than this time)
• 1:45 Projected end of meet

Heat Sheet

The heat sheet is attached and also on the website and SwimTopia app. The alternates listed below each event can be a little confusing. Each team owns their two spots in each event until the whistle blows Saturday morning. So even if a swimmer scratches, that first alternate on the list likely won’t get put into the meet, because the team would be able to replace their own swimmer. Once the whistle blows and there is a scratch, the first swimmer on the list of alternates who is there and ready to swim would be put into the heat. With all that said, alternates have a low chance of getting in on Saturday. If your swimmer is the top alternate and you’d like to have them there ready to swim just in case, that is up to you. But it is not expected that you will do that.
