All About 7/20 IM Carnival at Hunt Valley
Great job to all of our swimmers who worked diligently to earn legal times in all four strokes and/or IM this summer in order to qualify for this meet! IM Carnival is always a fun meet with fast swims and we were lucky enough to be invited by Hunt Valley to attend their meet this summer. Please read this email carefully for important information if your swimmer is attending.
ARRIVE BY 5:40PM FOR 6PM WARMUPS!
Jobs Still Needed:
- Awards - You might not need to do much because they might just send stuff home with us. But maybe you’ll do a little. Either way, it will be chill!
- 3 Timers - They’re trying to run all 8 lanes so the meet moves quickly!
Location: Hunt Valley Swimming Pool
7100 Sydenstricker Road, Springfield, VA 22152
The pool parking lot is available for parking until it fills. Once it is full, overflow parking is available directly across the street at Hunt Valley Elementary School. Please do NOT park directly in front of the pool on Sydenstricker Road.
Timeline: ARRIVE BY 5:40PM FOR 6PM WARMUPS!
Meet Start Time: 6:30 PM
Estimated End Time: 8:15 PM
We will use the full 8-lane pool for each team’s warm-up.
5:20–5:40 PM – Hunt Valley
5:40–6:00 PM – Rolling Forest
6:00–6:20 PM – Village West
Briefing Schedule
Role Referees 6:05 PM Marshals 5:20, 5:40, 6:00 PM (staggered per team) 10 min break - all marshalls start at 6:30
Announcer 5:20 PM
Starters / S&T Judges 6:05 PM
Timers 6:10 PM
Clerks of Course 6:20 PM
Table Workers 6:30 PM
Runners 6:30 PM
Team Area
Your team area will be located in the Grassy Area by Clerk of Course. Unless we expect rain, the team area is well shaded. Please remind your swimmers to bring chairs. We have some lounge chairs for them to use, but the number is limited. We ask that swimmers remain in their team area so they can hear event announcements and report promptly to the Clerk of Course. Parents may use the bleachers or deck tables for their viewing.
Concessions
The Hunt Valley Stingray Café will be open and serving hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, and a variety of café favorites, including frozen treats, mac and cheese, Cup Noodles, and more.
The café accepts cash, Venmo, Apple Pay, and credit cards.
Fun Stuff
Hunt Valley will have commemorative IM Carnival caps for sale. $12 each, first come first serve!
There will also be a Jolyn Pop-Up Store - parents of older girls especially: prepare your wallets now ;)
