Declare for Monday (6/29) Away B Meet by Sunday (6/28) at NOON!

We hope to see all Big Vikings at Rolling Forest Monday night (6/29) for our first B meet of the season! Please cross your fingers now for good weather. A “B” meet is an unscored meet where all swimmers are invited to swim and gain competitive experience. No one wins or loses, so it is very low pressure! Swimmers are just trying to do their best and improve their own times. Please remember to sign up for different events than the 6/27 A meet.

There will be a mini swim at 6:15PM for any Little Vikings at the meet!

Rolling Forest has a “no write-ins on Monday” policy, so noon on Sunday is a strict deadline. Declare now so you don’t forget this weekend!

And then sign up for a job so I am not stressed on Sunday ;)

Expectations: We expect to see great sportsmanship from all of our swimmers. Parents, please talk to your swimmers about this expectation. This includes cheering/clapping politely for the other team, staying in the water after a race until all swimmers are finished, shaking hands across lanes after races, and being supportive and encouraging to all swimmers on both teams.

One note: Please remind your swimmers not to chant “Big Q!” when cheering for Coach Quincy, as it sounds like they are chanting “DQ!”

Location: Rolling Forest is located at 7011 Flax St., Springfield, VA 22152. Their parking lot is open for our use, but extremely limited. Most families will need to park along Flax St. Please give yourself a little extra time to combat the Rolling Rd construction mess.

What to bring: Swimmers are greatly encouraged to bring a camp chair to sit on.

Concessions: Concessions at Rolling Forest only takes cash and Venmo. Spread the word!

Order of Events: Free, back, breast, fly, IM

Timeline: Arrive by 5:30PM to be ready for warm-ups at 5:50PM!

5:30 PM Clerk of Course meet to review cards and meet sheet
             Home Team Marshal on deck
             Rolling Forest Warm-ups (20 minutes)

5:50 PM Visiting Team Marshal on deck
              Visiting Team Warm-ups (20 minutes)

6:00 PM Officials Briefing (Referee, Starter, S&T)

6:10 PM Timers Briefing

6:15 PM Mini Swimmers Race

6:20 PM Time Check (Timers and Starter)

6:25 PM All Officials and Timers in place
             National Anthem

6:30 PM Meet Begins (we will start with free)

9:00 PM Meet End

Please note the specific times listed above and on your job signup, some are slightly different than usual. Rolling Forest has requested we bring TWO marshals, so please help out there for a great view of the meet!

Attire: Swimmers should wear their team suits and caps. If you do not have a team suit, wear another competition-approved suit (no tie backs!). Find me if you need a new Vikings cap!

All deck officials (including timers) should wear a white shirt and navy blue bottoms.
